May 9, 2025Eco Solve: Lighting Sri Lanka’s Future, the Sustainable Way by Practicing Green Supply Chain Management

As global environmental concerns rise against climate change, energy efficiency is no longer just an option—it’s a necessity. Unlike traditional, energy-inefficient light bulbs, LED technology represents a transformative leap forward, demonstrating how industrial manufacturing can harmonize with ecological preservation. In the Sri Lankan context, at the forefront of the green revolution, Eco Solve (Pvt) Ltd, stands as a homegrown champion in sustainable LED lighting.
Eco Solve (Pvt) Ltd was founded in 2009 and now acts as a pioneering company that provides LED lighting solutions to the country. The main factory premises are located at Bollatha, Ganemulla and their products are available at their showrooms in Nugegoda (Nawala Road). The visionary founder, Mr. Indika Neththasinghe, is now a successful entrepreneur who leads the pride to be the first manufacturer of LED commercial lights in Sri Lanka, and has redefined what it means to merge innovation with environmental responsibility.
“Our vision is to become the most durable, energy-saving, and eco-friendly lighting provider by 2025.”
An educational visit was organized in April 2025 to Eco Solve’s main factory in Kandana by final-year students from the Department of Information Management at SLIIT Business School and held a face-to-face interview with the company’s higher management. Through this engagement, the students identified several critical challenges related to the Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and proposed valuable recommendations from their academic perspective.
At the heart of Eco Solve’s superior lighting solutions lies their commitment to using only the best components, delivering remarkable benefits for consumers and the environment. Their advanced LED technology maintains the same bright light intensity while operating at significantly lower wattage compared to conventional bulbs. Wattage is a sense higher efficiency, which means that Eco Solve’s LEDs provide the same brightness as conventional bulbs while using far fewer watts. As an example, a 10W LED can match the light output of a 60W incandescent bulb, using 83% less energy.
“Innovation gives our company ‘life’ and builds a successful and ever-growing team.”
Customers enjoy flicker-free illumination that lasts longer than any other LED product available in Sri Lanka, while the absence of harmonic effects ensures no interference with other electronic devices. With an industry-leading failure rate of less than 0.2%, these lighting solutions set new standards for reliability and performance. This efficiency means fewer lights are needed to illuminate a space, resulting in reduced power consumption and lower electricity bills, without compromising on brightness quality.
”We believe that the size of our Carbon Footprint determines the lifetime of the planet, we all call Home – the Earth.”
Nonetheless, the societal benefits of Eco Solve’s approach are equally impressive. By using branded components, the company achieves substantially less energy consumption, helping conserve valuable resources. Their re-usable fittings dramatically reduce waste, minimizing both environmental pollution and carbon footprint. The maintenance services eliminate repair costs, creating meaningful savings for the public. These innovations collectively represent more than just product improvements – they demonstrate how thoughtful engineering can create positive ripple effects throughout society.
Moreover, Eco Solve (Pvt) Ltd has followed Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) into every facet of its operations, creating a blueprint for sustainable manufacturing that other Sri Lankan enterprises could ever imagine.
It is true that Eco Solve’s secret lies in its uncompromising quality. Unlike cheaper, short-lived alternatives flooding the market, their LED lights are built to last. The company uses internationally certified components, including high-performance LED chips and drivers, all selected to meet rigorous quality standards. Their lights are engineered to last longer while using 30% less power than conventional bulbs, with independent testing showing a minimum failure rate among the most reliable in the industry. What truly sets them apart is their commitment to the planet. Their main factory in Bollatha, Ganemulla follows Green Supply Chain Management, aluminum and stainless-steel fittings that are fully reusable, and even a “take-back” program to recycle old LED bulbs. This means less waste, fewer carbon emissions, and a cleaner Sri Lanka.
“Eco Solve isn’t just selling lights—it’s lighting the path to a greener future.”
What truly sets Eco Solve apart is its unwavering commitment to quality at every level. They source premium components, including Cree chips from the US and Osram SMDs from Germany, paired with their proprietary Eco Solve drivers. The products feature adequate, high-quality heat sinks and use only aluminum and stainless-steel fittings, with all components exceeding industry standards. Beyond product excellence, their customer service innovations include convenient doorstep maintenance, industry-leading warranties (3 years for indoor and 2 years for outdoor lighting), and repair services that extend beyond the warranty period. Their revolutionary “refresh not replace” policy allows customers to simply refill chips and drivers to renew warranties for another 3 years, significantly reducing electronic waste. These practices stem from deeply held core values that guide every aspect of the business. Eco Solve recognizes energy conservation as a global imperative and actively promotes sustainable solutions. They understand that minimizing humanity’s carbon footprint is essential for preserving our planet.
“We believe the personal growth of employees will help the growth of the company, while training is provided.”
Customer satisfaction remains paramount, with continuous improvements driven by user feedback. The company fosters a culture of innovation, constantly seeking cutting-edge advancements to stay ahead in sustainable lighting technology. Equally important is their investment in personnel development, recognizing that employee growth directly contributes to organizational success through regular training programs. Together, these principles and practices position Eco Solve as more than just a lighting manufacturer, they represent a visionary approach to businesses harmonizing technological excellence, social impact and, environmental responsibility, By redefining what’s possible in the lighting industry, Eco Solve illuminates a path toward a more sustainable future for Sri Lanka and beyond.
“0ur team is encouraged to hunt for information that drives cutting-edge products and solutions.”
During the industrial visit, students identified that, despite their success, Eco Solve faces real-world challenges that prevent the path from achieving sustainable progress. The high costs of premium materials like biodegradable packaging and high-efficiency LED chips drive up production expenses. Many Sri Lankan consumers still prioritize cheap, low-quality bulbs over long-term savings, making it hard for eco-friendly brands to compete. That shows the resistance to change of consumers. Further, technological gaps also pose challenges, as Sri Lanka lacks advanced systems for digital emissions tracking and efficient e-waste recycling. Additionally, the absence of strong government policies, such as subsidies or tax breaks for green manufacturers, puts companies like Eco Solve at a disadvantage compared to regional competitors benefiting from progressive initiatives like some schemes.
Additionally, the students emphasized the need for awareness campaigns to educate consumers on the long-term benefits of energy-efficient lighting. They also suggested stronger partnerships with universities and research centres to develop cheaper, more sustainable raw materials and improve recycling technologies. Furthermore, they encouraged Eco Solve to advocate for green-friendly government policies that could reduce costs and improve market competitiveness for eco-conscious manufacturers.
“We believe saving energy is a globally accepted timely requirement and promote measures for saving energy.”
Besides, Eco Solve’s dedication extends beyond products to exceptional customer service. They offer customized LED solutions, energy audits, and doorstep repairs to keep the trust during the warranty period. Indoor lights come with a 3-year warranty, while outdoor lights have a 2-year warranty, with the option to renew by replacing only the chip and driver instead of discarding the entire fixture. This approach not only saves money but also reduces waste, aligning with their mission to minimize environmental impact.
The social benefits of Eco Solve’s practices are far-reaching. Lower energy consumption means fewer power plants and reduced environmental damage. Reusable fittings mean less landfill waste, and long-lasting lights eliminate the need for frequent replacements. Their maintenance services help save public money by cutting repair costs. In every way, Eco Solve is proving that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that Eco Solve is more than a company—it’s a movement toward a brighter, cleaner Sri Lanka. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and green manufacturing sets a benchmark for the industry. With support from informed consumers, educational institutions, and the government, Eco Solve has the potential to lead the nation into a sustainable future. The journey isn’t without challenges, but with determination and collaboration, a greener tomorrow is within reach.
